Dr. Swaminathan Sivaram
Padma Shri Awardee

Dr. Swaminathan Sivaram, a polymer chemist by profession, is the former Director of the CSIR – National Chemical Laboratory, Pune (2002-10), Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Fellow of CSIR (2010-2015) and J. C. Bose Fellow of the Department of Science and Technology (2006-2014) is currently a Professor Emeritus and INSA Emeritus Scientist at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune, Honorary Professor at IISER-Kolkata and a Professor of Eminence in Polymer Science at Somaiya Vidya Vihar University, Mumbai.

Dr. Sivaram is a highly decorated scientist with numerous awards and honours to his credit. He was conferred Padma Shri by the President of India in 2006. He is a recipient of the Gold Medal of the Chemical Research Society of India for his life-time achievements in chemistry (2019) and the International Award for distinguished contributions to polymer science, awarded by the Society of Polymer Science, Japan (2017). He is an elected Fellow of all the learned academies of science and engineering in India as well as The World Academy of Sciences, Trieste, Italy. He is a technical consultant to several reputed Indian companies and serves or has served on the Board of Directors of many leading Indian companies dealing with chemicals and materials.

He has authored close to two hundred and fifty papers in peer-reviewed journals, edited two books and authored one book. He is cited as an inventor in fifty-one issued US and European patents as well as fifty-two Indian patents. He has supervised the doctoral thesis of about forty students and mentored over fifteen post-doctoral fellows in a research career spanning fifty years.

Prof. Rajagopalan Vasudevan
Padma Shri Awardee

Prof Rajagopaln Vasudevan, is Known as Plastic Man of India for innovating the reuse of Plastic Waste in building durable and cost effective roads. Shredded Plastic Waste is mixed with bitumen and the polymerized mix is used in road construction. This innovating method will help in making the roads much faster and also will save environment from most trouble some plastic waste. These roads have shown greater resistance against damages due to heavy rains. The innovating method of road construction is widely used in rural India. He was conferred India’s fourth highest civilian Honor Padma Shri by the President of India in 2018.

He is an Indian Scientist who has worked mainly in Waste management. He is currently a Professor in Thiagarajar College of Engineering. He obtained hs Bachelor of Science degree and M.Sc degree from Madras University in 1965 and 1967 respectively. He was conferred Ph.D from Madars University in 1974.Later in 1975, he joined Thiagarajar College of Engineering as Lecturer and Became Professor in 1998.

Prof. Pradyumna Vyas

Prof. Vyas was the former Director of NationalInstitute of Design (NID), India’s premierdesign institute. Currently, he is a Senior Advisor of Design Promotion and Innovation at Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and on the Board of Directors of World Design Organisation. He acquired his Masters in Industrial Design from IIT, Bombay and ‘Honorary Master of Arts’ degree from University for Creative Arts in Farnham, United Kingdom.

Dr. Lakshmi Raghupathy

She was the Former Director of the Ministry of Environment & Forests, Govt. of India and is presently a visiting faculty in TERI School of Advanced Sciences in teaching solid waste management, waste utilisation and industrial ecology. She is a guide to Doctoral and Post Graduate students in TERI and Amity University. She is an advisor and consultant in areas of environment & waste management and also a resource person in the Swachh Bharat Mission Exposure Workshops.

Mr. Vimal Kedia

He is the Doyen in Plastic Industry with more than 4 decades of experience. Former Promoter & Managing Director of Manjushree Techno pack Ltd, the leading manufacturer of PET containers in India. At present, the Group Chairman and Founder of Manjushree Ventures, Bangalore. He was honored by the President of India for “Outstanding Entrepreneurship”, Game Changers of India by Economic Times in London as well as “ Life time Achievement Award” by Economic Times Polymers.
